Al Adel Mosque

Location :ِRamadi, Iraq.

Design Year: 2025.

Al-Adil Mosque is located in the heart of the city of Ramadi, Iraq, on a narrow, longitudinal plot of land. Due to the deviation of the building’s orientation toward the qibla from the site boundaries, a specific architectural solution was required. This was achieved by dividing the prayer hall into two sections, with the addition of an upper floor designated for prayer occupying the front portion of the hall, while the remaining area was left with a double-height space to enhance spatial openness and visual continuity.

The women’s prayer hall and its associated facilities are attached to the main mosque structure, with a separate entrance, while maintaining formal and functional integration with the primary building. The entrance is defined by an elevated arcade, centered around the mosque’s main gateway, creating a clear and dignified point of arrival.

The design concept is based on emphasizing the mosque’s longitudinal form and reinforcing the direction of the qibla. This is expressed through two suspended architectural planes positioned on either side of the prayer hall, articulated with horizontal lines and inscribed with selected Names of Allah. These elements are supported by glass panels, achieving a balance between visual lightness and symbolic expression. Meanwhile, the mihrab is rendered in a contemporary architectural language characterized by clarity, precision, and refined aesthetics.

Overall, the project represents a contemporary architectural approach that harmonizes functional requirements with formal innovation, while preserving the spiritual and symbolic essence of mosque architecture
