Adam Mosque
Location: Al Dakhiliyah, Sultanate of Oman
Design Year: 2024
Service: Religious
Architectural Features: Islamic
Concept:
Situated on the edge of the Omani desert in Al Dakhiliyah, this grand mosque is composed of solid, sun-resistant masses arranged in a simple ascending form. Quranic verses crown the structure, which aligns precisely with the qibla axis—from the entrance and courtyard to the main and women's prayer halls, mihrab, and service areas.
The design intentionally avoids domes and arches, drawing inspiration from traditional Omani fort architecture. Tower-like forms are emphasized at key points, such as the side gates and the mihrab block.
A deliberate break in symmetry at the main entrance adds visual interest: a tall central frame is balanced by twelve columns, symbolizing the lunar months, behind which rises the minaret, proudly carrying the symbol of Islam.
