Mibam Mosque
Location: Sur, Sultanate of Oman
Design Year: 2025
Project Type: Religious
Status: Under Design
Architectural Style: Islamic
Concept: The mosque is situated on a sloped site in Mibam–Tiywi, characterized by uneven terrain. It reflects a simple, authentic Omani architectural style, avoiding domes, arches, or elaborate ornamentation. The design employs local clay colors, intricately detailed windows, shaded areas, and decorative motifs inspired by traditional Omani palm leaf crafts. The layout includes a men’s prayer hall, an outdoor Eid prayer area, seating spaces, ablution facilities, a caretaker’s residence, and a women’s prayer area occupying one-third of the first floor with visual access to the men’s prayer hall. Additionally, a tourist residence is integrated above nearby shops as part of the mosque complex. All functional elements are carefully oriented along the qibla, ensuring cohesive spatial organization and alignment with traditional Islamic design principles.
