Al Mubaila Mosque

Location: Al Seeb, Muscat Governorate, Sultanate of Oman.

The Mosque: This mosque project, located in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman, covers an area of approximately 744 square meters. The project consists of three main sections: Men’s Prayer Hall Women’s Prayer Hall: Located on the first floor, accessible via the minaret block. Services: Including ablution areas, the Imam’s residence, and commercial shops. The design of the mosque adheres to a square shape as its basic form, with the main prayer hall being large and the remaining space divided into four smaller square blocks, which house the women’s prayer hall entrance, ablution areas, the Imam’s residence, and other supporting services. The high-level engineering of the project is evident in the overall design, where perpendicular lines dominate, and no arches are used. The design evolves as needed by the function of each space. The main prayer hall is surrounded by frames that include vertical sunshades to protect the building from the sun’s rays. The central courtyard, an essential element in mosque architecture, is surrounded by tightly arranged building blocks. It features the intersection of the qibla axis with the main entrance, along with a water source resembling the Salsabil, adorned with turquoise hues, adding aesthetic and spiritual value to the space. The design seamlessly integrates with the heritage of Islamic architecture, showcasing elegant engineering that respects traditional styles.
