AL HALIM MOSQUE
Design Year: 2025
Service: Religious
Architectural Style: Islamic
Concept:
The project entails constructing a new mosque to replace the existing one in a village in the Wilayat of Rustaq, South Al Batinah Governorate, Sultanate of Oman, while maintaining its architectural and functional integration within the traditional village fabric. The built-up area is 68 m², and the prayer hall measures (8 × 8 meters), providing an efficient layout suited to local community needs.
Natural and Contextual Elements
A traditional falaj crosses the mosque’s courtyard—an essential cultural and functional feature in Omani villages. As an ancient water-management system fed by mountain springs, the falaj is preserved by raising the structure to allow its unobstructed passage beneath the mosque. A dedicated access point is provided for drinking and performing ablution using the flowing water.
