The White Columns Mosque
Design Year: 2024
Service: Religious
Architectural Style: Islamic
Concept:
The project is located on a corner plot within the dense Al Maabilah Al Janoubiyah neighborhood of Muscat. Its design follows the traditional layout of a grand mosque, with entrances, a central courtyard (hawsh), prayer hall, and mihrab aligned along the qibla axis.
The courtyard is framed by two rows of columns, culminating in a square minaret and a semi-cylindrical structure that houses the water source and ablution area, drawing inspiration from traditional Omani fort architecture.
Service areas—including ablution facilities, bathrooms, a multipurpose hall, women’s prayer space, caretaker and imam residences, and commercial shops—are seamlessly integrated into the design, ensuring that the central focus of the courtyard and prayer hall remains undisturbed.
